Andleeb Hanif
Andleeb Hanif is a Medical Geneticist and Immunovirologist by credential with a strong passion for advancing medical science, particularly in the fields of virology, gene therapy, and public health.
She has made significant contributions to the diagnostics and research of communicable and non-communicable diseases, playing a pivotal role in public health initiatives in Punjab, Pakistan, including the establishment of laboratory networks and genomic surveillance during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her efforts in leading diagnostic testing and COVID-19 variant tracking earned her multiple accolades at the provincial level.
Her research portfolio spans genetic predispositions in hematological disorders, with a particular focus on HLA-linkage and immune markers that enhance treatment outcomes in immunocompromised patients. Currently, Andleeb is a PhD scholar at the University of New South Wales, working within the Immunovirology and Pathogenesis Program at the Kirby Institute. Her research on RNA interference (RNAi) gene therapy aims to achieve a functional cure for viral diseases by investigating the RNA-induced transcriptional gene silencing complex in human cells. Through her pioneering work, Andleeb Hanif is driving advancements in gene therapy, with the ultimate goal of ensuring long-term, disease-free survival for patients.
