Juliet D French 50 Years Shine-Dalgarno Symposium 2023

Juliet D French

Juliet is a NBCF Early Career Fellow and is Head of the Functional Genetics Laboratory at QIMR Berghofer. She conducted her PhD and post-doctoral studies at the University of Queensland with a focus on mechanisms of gene regulation. In 2013 she was recruited to QIMR Berghofer in Brisbane where she now heads a small research group aimed at understanding how genetic variants in regulatory regions of the genome influence breast cancer risk and progression. One of the major interests of her laboratory is the functional follow-up of breast cancer risk loci identified by Genome Wide Association Studies (GWAS). Specifically, identifying the causal variants that are directly responsible for influencing breast cancer risk and understanding the mechanism of action by which these variants influence breast cancer predisposition.
